Terms of Service

Effective date: 20 July 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Willownote (the "Service"), operated by Postma Software ("Willownote", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Acceptance of terms

By signing in and using Willownote, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. We may update these Terms from time to time as described in Section 14 below.

2. Description of the service

Willownote is a personal task management application built around a single, manually ordered task list, a pinned "Today" section, optional projects, and natural-language quick-add. Willownote also offers an MCP (Model Context Protocol) endpoint that allows compatible AI assistants, including Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or any other MCP-compatible client, to read and edit your task list on your behalf, using a personal API token you generate and control.

Willownote is currently available as an online web application and installable Progressive Web App (PWA). Native applications for the App Store and Google Play are planned for a future release.

3. Accounts & eligibility

Access to Willownote requires signing in with a Google account. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your Google account and for all activity that occurs through your Willownote account.

You agree to provide accurate information where requested (such as your timezone) and to keep it up to date, since some Service behavior, for example, what counts as "today", depends on it.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to access, view, or modify another user's tasks, projects, or account data;
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or attempt to extract the source code or underlying structure of the Service, except where applicable law expressly permits it;
  • Use the Service in a way that is abusive, disruptive, or intended to degrade availability for other users, including automated use that exceeds reasonable personal-scale volume;
  • Attempt to circumvent per-user rate limits, quotas, or sanity caps put in place to keep the Service stable and abuse-free; or
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section, in accordance with Section 10 (Termination).

5. API tokens & MCP access

Willownote lets you generate one or more named personal API tokens to connect MCP-compatible AI assistants to your task list. A token acts on your account with the permissions you give it when you create it: read-only or read-and-write access, scoped to all projects or to specific projects you select, and optionally allowed to create new projects. You are responsible for keeping your tokens confidential and for any action taken through a token, including actions taken by an AI assistant you connect or anyone you share the token with.

You can revoke any token at any time from your account settings; a revoked token stops working immediately. If you believe a token has been exposed or compromised, revoke it as soon as possible.

6. Purchases & refunds

Willownote is offered as a one-time purchase of $40 USD, rather than a subscription. Your purchase includes all future updates to the Service at no additional cost, for as long as Willownote continues to be offered. Payments are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor; Willownote does not store your full payment card details.

Willownote has no free trial. Instead, you can request a full refund within 14 days of buying, so you can try it first. When you request a refund, your account enters a 24-hour window where you can still change your mind. Once it passes, your account and all its data are permanently deleted and your refund is issued. A refunded account can't be restored. After 14 days, purchases are non-refundable. Closing your account on its own (see Section 10) does not issue a refund. None of this removes the consumer-protection rights that the law where you live grants you and that can't be waived.

If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, you also have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for purchases made online. Because access to Willownote is granted immediately when you buy, you agree that we may start providing the Service right away, which is when performance begins. The refund policy above gives you at least the same protection as that right: a full refund within 14 days of buying, with no reason needed, which you can exercise by deleting your account (see Section 10) or by contacting us.

7. Intellectual property / license to use the app

Willownote and its underlying software, design, and branding are owned by Postma Software and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your own personal task management. This license does not give you any ownership of the Service itself.

8. Your content

You own the tasks, project names, descriptions, and other content you create in Willownote ("your content"). By using the Service, you grant Willownote a limited license to store, process, and transmit your content solely as necessary to operate, maintain, and provide the Service to you (for example, syncing your list across devices or responding to an MCP request). We do not claim ownership over your content and do not use it for any purpose beyond running the Service, except as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Availability & changes

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make a reasonable effort to keep Willownote available and reliable, but we do not guarantee any specific level of uptime in this version of the Service. We may add, change, or remove features over time, including expanding to native App Store and Play Store applications, and we will use reasonable efforts to keep your task data intact through such changes, consistent with our archiving-not-deleting approach described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Termination

You may close your account at any time from your account settings. Closing your account starts a 30-day grace period during which you can restore it; if the grace period elapses without restoration, your account and its data are permanently deleted. If your account still qualifies for a refund (a purchase made within the last 14 days), closing it instead starts a 24-hour grace period during which you can restore it by signing back in, and an automatic refund is issued once that period elapses (see Section 6). This is the one exception to the archiving-not-deleting approach to normal task use described in the Privacy Policy. If your account is permanently deleted, regaining access requires a new purchase; your previous purchase is not restored. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service, and we will provide notice where reasonably practicable. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 7, 8, 12, and 13) will continue to apply.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Postma Software and its personnel will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising out of or related to your use of the Service, except where the loss is caused by our intent or gross negligence. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid to use the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim. If you use Willownote as a consumer, nothing in these Terms limits rights that the mandatory law of the country you live in gives you and that cannot be waived.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

Except as expressly stated in these Terms, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of the Netherlands, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. If you use Willownote as a consumer, you keep the mandatory protections of the law of the country you live in, which these Terms cannot take away. Any dispute we cannot resolve through our contact form can be brought before the competent court in the Netherlands, unless the mandatory rules that protect you as a consumer give you the right to bring it before a court where you live.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or for legal or operational reasons. If we make material changes, we will provide reasonable notice, such as an in-app notice or an email to the address on your account. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent through our contact form.
